Hibernian held off a late fightback from William Hill Premiership leaders Heart of Midlothian to win the Edinburgh derby 3-2 at Easter Road. Celtic cut the gap at the top to three points thanks to a 4-2 triumph at bottom club Livingston and Rangers leapfrogged Motherwell with a 1-0 win at Ibrox. Dundee edged out Falkirk 1-0 at Dens Park. Aberdeen and Dundee United drew 1-1 in the late game at Pittodrie while St Mirren and Kilmarnock drew 0-0 in Paisley.
Dunfermline Athletic were the only winners in the William Hill Championship, beating Raith Rovers 2-1 at Stark’s Park. Leaders St Johnstone were held to a 0-0 draw by bottom club Ross County in Dingwall while second-placed Partick Thistle drew 2-2 with Queen’s Park at Lesser Hampden. Arbroath and Airdrieonians drew 1-1 at Gayfield and that was also the outcome between Morton and Ayr United at Cappielow.
Montrose beat William Hill League 1 leaders Inverness CT 2-1 at Links Park and they are now two points ahead of Stenhousemuir, who drew 0-0 away to Alloa Athletic. Queen of the South are also just two points off the pace after beating Hamilton Accies 4-1 at Palmerston. Bottom club Kelty Hearts won 1-0 at East Fife and Cove Rangers thumped Peterhead 4-0 at Balmoor.
Mark Stowe hit a hat-trick as Spartans beat Edinburgh City 3-1 at Meadowbank Stadium to move five points clear at the top of William Hill League 2. Closest challengers East Kilbride drew 1-1 with Clyde at K-Park while Forfar Athletic saw off Elgin City 4-2 at Station Park. Stirling Albion won 2-1 at Dumbarton while it finished 2-2 between Annan Athletic and Stranraer at Galabank.
