Big wins for Bairns, Well & Dons | Pars beat Saints

Barney Stewart hit a hat-trick as Falkirk saw off Hibernian 4-1 to move to within two points of the Easter Road side in the William Hill Premiership. Motherwell also continued their excellent season by beating Kilmarnock 4-0 at Fir Park while Aberdeen thrashed bottom club Livingston 6-2 at Pittodrie. Dundee United v St Mirren was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Leaders Hearts host Celtic on Sunday (Sky Sports, 3.00pm) while Rangers face Dundee at Ibrox.

Dunfermline Athletic defeated William Hill Championship leaders St Johnstone 1-0 at McDiarmid Park as Partick Thistle closed the gap at the top to just two points thanks to a 2-1 Firhill victory over Ayr United. Jack Hamilton scored a hat-trick as Raith Rovers beat Queen’s Park 4-1 at Stark’s Park – the Spiders are now bottom of the table after Ross County defeated Airdrieonians 1-0 at the Albert Bartlett Stadium.

Leaders Inverness CT were 3-1 winners at home to Alloa Athletic in William Hill League 1 while third-placed Queen of the South thrashed East Fife 5-1 at Bayview. Hamilton Accies beat Cove Rangers 2-0 at Broadwood. In the late game, second-placed Stenhousemuir were 2-0 winners away to bottom club Kelty Hearts. Peterhead v Montrose was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Links Park. 

Clyde boosted their William Hill League 2 title hopes by beating leaders The Spartans 2-1 at New Douglas Park while second-placed East Kilbride went down 2-0 to Stranraer at K-Park. Stirling Albion won 1-0 away to Forfar Athletic while Elgin City hit back for a 2-2 draw at Dumbarton. Bottom club Edinburgh City drew 2-2 with Annan Athletic at Meadowbank Stadium.
