SPFL Fixtures for 2026/27

Sky Sports show all six opening games

In a ground-breaking first for Scottish football, Sky Sports will broadcast live coverage of every William Hill Premiership fixture across the opening weekend of the new season.

The SPFL has today published the 2026/27 fixture lists for the William Hill Premiership, William Hill Championship, William Hill League 1 and William Hill League 2.

Sky Sports covered more matches than ever before during the thrilling 2025/26 campaign and will follow that up by showing all six top-flight games across four days as the new season gets under way.

The 2026/27 William Hill Premiership will kick off with Dundee United v Rangers on Friday July 31 at 8.00pm and will be followed by two games on Saturday August 1. Falkirk host St Mirren (3.00pm) and Aberdeen take on Heart of Midlothian at Pittodrie (5.30pm).

Sky Sports’ comprehensive live coverage continues on Sunday August 2 as St Johnstone mark their top-flight return at home to Kilmarnock, kick-off 2.00pm, with UEFA Conference League entrants Hibernian and Motherwell meeting at Easter Road, kick-off 4.30pm.

To round off the first weekend of action, reigning champions Celtic begin the defence of their William Hill Premiership trophy against Dundee at Celtic Park on Monday August 3, kick-off 7.30pm.

Meanwhile, Premier Sports’ first live broadcast of season 2026/27 will be Rangers v Hibernian on Sunday August 9, with a 4.00pm kick-off. BBC Scotland’s first selection in the William Hill Championship will be Partick Thistle v Livingston on Friday August 7, kick-off 7.30pm.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle begin life back in the William Hill Championship with a home game against Dunfermline Athletic while Stenhousemuir’s first game in the second tier for 50 years is against Raith Rovers at Stark’s Park. East Kilbride will unfurl their championship-winning flag before kicking off their League 1 campaign at home to Queen of the South.

The first Old Firm match of the season will be at Celtic Park on Sunday September 20, live on Sky Sports, kick-off 12 noon, and the first Edinburgh derby is scheduled for Easter Road on the midweek of September 1/2. The opening Dundee derby of 2026/27 will be played at Tannadice on August 22/23, while Fife rivals Dunfermline Athletic and Raith Rovers meet at East End Park the following weekend.

The amalgamation of the September and October windows on the FIFA international match calendar means there are no William Hill Premiership matches scheduled for the weekends of September 26/27 or October 3/4. Clubs in the other three divisions will continue to play on international weekends, either in SPFL matches or the KDM Evolution Trophy.

The final top-flight fixtures of 2026/27 are scheduled for the weekend of May 15/16 while the William Hill Championship, William Hill League 1 and William Hill League 2 will conclude two weeks earlier on Friday April 30 (Championship) and Saturday May 1 (League 1 & 2).

SPFL group chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “We are delighted to announce the fixtures for 2026/27 on the back of an incredible season that produced so much drama and excitement and was again watched by record attendances in the SPFL era.

“We are thrilled that our main broadcast partner Sky Sports are showing all six William Hill Premiership matches live across the opening weekend in what is a first for Scottish football. We greatly value Sky Sports’ support of our game, which saw more live games than ever before shown last season.

“We are very much looking forward to the return of domestic football in the coming weeks but in the meantime, we wish Steve Clarke’s Scotland team all the very best for the massive World Cup matches against Morocco tomorrow and Brazil on Wednesday.”

Gary Hughes, Sky Sports Director of Football, said: “Sky Sports is excited to broadcast all six William Hill Premiership matches on the opening weekend and showcase all 12 clubs to kick off the domestic season.

“The decision underlines Sky Sports commitment to Scottish football on the back of last season which saw viewing increase by over 20% year-on-year, culminating in a dramatic final-day title decider. We‘re looking forward to continuing the story with our unrivalled coverage and expert analysis.”
