Football Manager partnership extended

A new four-year agreement has been reached with the franchise

The SPFL has agreed a four-year extension to its licensing partnership with Sports Interactive, the studio behind Football Manager.

The organisations have extended the current deal on improved terms until the end of season 2028/29, which means SPFL clubs will continue to play a starring role in the world’s leading football simulation game.

All 42 SPFL clubs will be fully licensed within the iconic game, with official logos, kits and player photos featured across all versions of Football Manager 26, when it launches from November 4.

Football Manager data shows that the top 10 most played Scottish teams in the most recent FM24 game included Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibernian, Dundee United and Motherwell.

Joining them in the top 10 were The Spartans – the SPFL’s newest club when the game first launched – as well as Falkirk and Peterhead.

More than 1.4 million saves have been started with SPFL sides in FM24, with 1.8 million SPFL trophies won across that time – 400k cups and 1.4 million league titles.

Football fans will be able to compete for glory across the William Hill Premiership, Championship, League One and League Two as well as the Premier Sports Cup and KDM Evolution Trophy in upcoming editions of the game.

Neil Doncaster, SPFL Group chief executive, said: “We know fans across the country love the Football Manager series, so it’s great to confirm a longer-term partnership with Sports Interactive to continue our involvement in the game until at least season 2028/29.

“Football Manager has a truly global following, which gives us a fantastic platform to continue to showcase Scottish football and our competitions to its millions of players worldwide.”

Miles Jacobson, Sports Interactive Studio Director, said: "We're delighted to have extended our long-running partnership with the SPFL.

“As the data shows, the Scottish leagues are some of the most popular in our games and we look forward to seeing that continue with our latest release, FM26, and beyond."
